1. July 2, 2007 Meeting Minutes
Motion: Goeken/Schik [Unanimously approved]
2. Scandia Recreation Programs
a. Rasmussen reported that the first half of the summer SPARKS/BLAST program had to be
cancelled due to lack of participation. Park & Rec Coordinator, Marty McKelvey will be
invited to the PRC meeting to provide her programming report.
b. Hurlburt reported that McKelvey will coordinate Park& Rec `Facilities' policy
development with user groups following the conclusion of summer programming.
3. Other Committees
a. Com�rehensive Plan: The decision to name a consultant to assist the city with its
Comprehensive Plan is pending with the City Council.
b. Capital Improvements: 2007 & 2008 anticipated capital improvement plan (CIP)
expenditure needs of the PRC have been gathered. A special City Council budget
worksession is to be held in August.
4. Taco Daze
a. PRC will have a booth at Taco Daze. Information about Wind-in-the-Pines and
Lilleskogen parks will be made available.
b. Skupien presented the Taco Daze Dodgeball Tournament budget, indicating an anticipated
break-even ledger.
5. Wind in the Pines (WIP) park
Schik presented WIP trail options, complete with detailed material and labor cost estimates.
Discussion regarding the use of existing logs was favored over having fareign material brought in.
6. Old Business
a. Hay Lake Park: Options surrounding potential uses of this park were discussed.
b. Park& Rec properties: Smith encourages all PRC members to visit these sites in order to
best discuss their development, priority and use at an upcoming PRC meeting.
