Replacement of 104-13 (Dual rear wheel dump truck) is a smaller capacity hauling dump truck with a front plow and includes a
sander. Desired delivery of replacement equipment expected by October of 2023. Build dates on current orders are currently eight to
twelve months out from date ordered.
The new dump truck will match or exceed the current specifications of the truck currently in operation.
3. Describe the necessity for and/or benefits or savings expected from this item
During the snow season this truck’s primary role is to clear snow and ice from Scandia roads including cul-de-sacs and dead ends
which the large plow trucks cannot navigate. While plowing the truck is capable of applying salt from the sander attachment to reduce
ice accumulation on the roadway. This piece of equipment plays a major factor for roadway safety in the winter. During the summer
the primary role of the tandem truck is to haul roadway materials to and from the job site. It is also the secondary hauling truck during
tree removals for smaller debris. With the addition of a compressor, staff will be able to install road signs more efficiently without
renting a compressor. Cost savings with a new truck will include reduced equipment rental, labor hours, and increase public safety
with immediate sign replacement.
Due to current vehicle condition and the truck has reaching its 10-year replacement cycle justifies its replacement.
