5.b Staff Report-PW Staff Report Date of Meeting: 09/8/2022 For: PRC From: Charles Fischer – Director of Public Works Subject: Staff Report Seasonal Staff: As of August 25th, Public Works seasonal staff member has gone back to school. Fortunately, we continue to mow park properties utilizing volunteer hours on Mondays and Wednesdays. Full time staff have filled in when necessary. Playground Project: Public Works staff is still scheduled to complete the playground removal following the Taco Daze event. Weather dependent the sidewalk, pads, and playground curb to be installed this fall. Construction schedule can be found in the meeting packet. Items and contractors currently ordered or lined up for the project are: • Concrete Contractor Scheduled (Fall 2022) • Playground Structure and Installation (2023) • Rubberized Surfacing and Installation (2023) • Wood Chips and Installation (2023) • Park Benches ordered (2022 delivery) • Picnic Tables order (2022 delivery) • Garbage and Recycling Cans (2022 delivery) • Grills for picnic area (2022 delivery) Items remaining for purchase and installation: • Erosion control materials • Drain tile • Fill soil • Top soil • Raingarden Mulch • Raingarden Landscape plants • Sod/Seed MSA Park Planning: The survey which has been live for a couple weeks has been extended to end past the original September 12th end date to accommodate more time after Taco Daze for submissions to be made. Wayne Erickson Lighting: The bank of lights which has been out for almost one year is scheduled to be repaired this month. Public Works is working with the contractor on scheduling the repair. Midco Event: Public Works help support this event contributing time to set up and tear down. Public Works supplied ice, picked up picnic tables and treats, delivered extra garbage cans and check and cleaned up the trial prior to the event. Following the removal of the items the park remained in good condition and no additional clean up was required by Public Works. Public Works would like to thank the volunteers and Meister’s for their work keeping the park clean after the event.
