SUBJECT: Summary of recent actions by the City Council relating to the Planning
Commission
MEETING DATE: November 1, 2022
BACKGROUND
This memo is meant to provide a brief summary of actions taken by the City Council on items previously
reviewed by the Planning Commission. Planning and zoning requests (such as variances, conditional use
permits, code amendments, etc.) start with review and recommendations made by the Planning
Commission, and then are approved or denied by the City Council.
RECENT ITEMS
Variances
Variances to add onto an existing cabin and construct a detached garage, located at 16940 197th
Street North
o The Planning Commission recommended approval of the request at the October 4th
Planning Commission meeting
o This request was approved by the City Council on October 18th, with the conditions
recommended by the Commission
Variance Extension
An extension of a previously approved variance, located at 19235 Larkspur Avenue North
o The Planning Commission recommended an extension to June 20, 2024
o The City Council approved the extension, as recommended by the Planning Commission
Subdivision
The Final Plat for Tii Gavo 2nd Addition was approved by the City Council on October 18th
o The Preliminary Plat was reviewed by the Planning Commission in August, and approved
by the Council at their August 16th meeting
Planning Services
The City Council elected to move forward with a new consultant for planning services, starting in
2023.
o The City Council had issued an RFP for on-call planning services at a recent Council
meeting in July
