Scandia members present: Patti Ray, Christine Maefsky, Lynne Moratzka, Darlene Holtgreve, and Dave Bakke.
I. Patti Ray, call to order at 11:30 a.m. Meeting participant introductions.
II. Patti Ray, Review of Connections
a. A spreadsheet of connections with contact information was distributed.
III. Patti Ray, Sister City highway signs.
a. 3 highway signs are now in place in Scandia.
IV. Patti Ray, Home Hosting program.
a. There has been interest in Scandia and Mellerud by individual households to offer Home Hosting.
More time is needed to develop the program and decide how it is to be administered.
V. Patti Ray, Connections
a. Painted rocks will be hidden in Scandia’s Tomteskogen for people to search for.
b. Photos of Mellerud’s Tomte Museum will be sent to Scandia’s Gammelgarden.
c. A joint celebration is being planned with the Mellerud choir.
d. Lynn mailed hand painted Tomtes (given away at the Farmers’ Market) to the Mellerud museum.
VI. Mellerud wants to invite a delegation from Scandia to visit in 2023.
a. A maximum number of participants will be determined. It is suggested that the visit take place in
July.
VII. Scandia fundraiser for Ukrainian refugees in Mellerud.
a. $4176.96 was collected. The money will be sent through the Lions Club.
b. Patti Ray asked for information about the refugees.
c. Mellerud will receive between 12 and 40 Ukrainian refugees. There is a need for Christmas gifts.
d. Patti reported that the Scandia Shopping Extravaganza will have a gift-wrapping station/fund
raiser for the refugees.
e. Darlene Holtgreve presented handmade Tomte ornaments to give away and be mailed to Mellerud.
VIII. Discussion of Agenda for the next joint Scandia/Mellerud meeting on January 26th @ 11:30 a.m.
