Rink Preparations:
Due to warm weather in the last few weeks there will be a delay in flooding of the rinks. The
forecasted weather looks promising moving forward to drive more frost into the ground which
is necessary before applying water to the rinks. Public Works staff is clearing the snow from the
rinks to reduce the insulating factor snow has after each snow event. Tuesday, December 6th
we will begin monitoring frost depth and start flooding accordingly.
Rink Staffing:
Public Works has received and will be recommending for hire a rink maintenance position. Only
one application was received but due to the candidates background in machinery operation
should be able to fill the role with appropriate training. If volunteers are still interested in
operating the Zamboni, Public Works will be willing to train and schedule times for resurfacing
the rink when staff is not available.
All Rink Attendant positions have been filled and all will receive required training prior to the
opening of the ice rinks.
