Subject: Seasonal Rink Maintenance
Background
The City of Scandia has previously hired one Seasonal Rink Maintenance worker. This year the
City only received one application for the position. Last year we received no applications. Public
Works contacted the applicant for an interview and discussed the position and the applicants
background as it relates to Rink Maintenance. Although specific rink maintenance is not the
applicants background, Public Works will be able to train the individual in Rink Maintenance
with the extensive machinery operation the applicant does have.
Issue
Should the City hire one Seasonal Rink Maintenance worker.
Options
(1) Staff is recommending to hire Joe Murphy at a pay rate of $15.50/hour.
(2) Hire no Rink Maintenance staff
