Subject:Re Feb. 1 meeting agenda item... (EV charging stations grant)
Attachments:FY2023_L2_RFP.docx
Dear City Council Members,
I thought you might be interested in seeing at least part of the RFP for the grant that the MPCA is handling, using the
Volkswagen settlement money for the purpose of adding (Level 2) EV charging stations in Minnesota. You may know
that this grant award requires a 20% match, which seems generous.
Anyway I am a board member of Friends of Scandia Parks and Trails and want to let you know that our group supports
the effort for Scandia to seek this grant.
Attached is at least part of the RFP for this grant. This is a “reimbursement” grant, so the grant recipient will get
reimbursed once it pays for an expense and can show a receipt for it. It lists what expenses are eligible to be reimbursed
(80%) and to count as Scandia’s 20% contribution, and also those that are not. It may be possible to improve the odds
for this grant if Scandia can use renewable energy for this project. It’s possible that Scandia could work with its utility to
make that happen, thus improving its grant request. I believe bids are not required for this grant proposal, but verbal
bids are suggested.
I am merely aware of this grant, and have very little knowledge of the details of applying for it. Some of these details are
covered in the RFP. There have been a couple of webinars geared to providing information about this grant. I
understand these can be watched online. I do know that the absolute deadline for application is Feb. 28.
Thanks so much for your interest in this grant.
Sincerely,
Mary Hooley
