4.l) Staff Report-LMC Annual Conference ;` ; 'j---. "-. , 7 `: SCANDIA srarrReporr Date of Meeting: Apri19, 2013 To: City Council From: Kristina Handt,Administrator Re: LMC Annual Conference Agenda Item#: 4.1) Background: The Annual League of Minnesota Cities Conference is scheduled for June 19-21 in St. Paul. This year the League will be marking its l 00th year anniversary. The Council had previously discussed Council members attending various training events. Since the best pricing is available if registered by May l S`, staff is bringing this up at this time for discussion. In addition, I would like Council approval to attend the conference. Issue: Are any Council members interested in attending the LMC Annual Conference? Should the administrator be approved to attend the LMC Annual Conference? Proposal Details: Conference information is available on the League's website at www.lmc.org/13AC3 Session tracks include Community Planning and Development, Governing and Managing,GreenStep Practices, and Business Leadership Council. Of particular interest to me are the sessions on governing and managing as well as those on business retention and expansion. Fiscal Impact: Registration before May 1 is $295 for those who have attended before. For first time attendees the rate is$99. The 2013 budget includes$1,000 for Council attendance at Conferences and Seminars and$750 for Administration staffto attend Conferences and Workshops. Options: Determine which Council members are interested in attending the conference and provide direction to staff on approvals to be included on next Council agenda.
