5.m) Staff Report-Administrator Salary Adjustment � _ �' ..,,. �` •!. yy,,,,��i,, ���i �' - Staff Renort Date of Meeting: April l6, 2013 To: City Council From: Kristina Handt, Administrator Re: Administrator Salary Adjustment Agenda Item #: S.m) Background: On August 28, 2012,the City Council approved an Employment Agreement with Kristina Handt. The agreement included the following language: "Upon completion of the Probationary Period and thereafter during the Term, Employee's salary may be adjusted from time to time by the Employer in its sole discretion." On December 18, 2012, the City Council approved 2013 pay rates. Most employees received a 2% increase. The City Administrator's rate was not increased at that time but on the attachment to the resolution it was noted **subject to change after probationary period, per employment agreement. Issue: How should the salary of the city administrator be adjusted following a 6 month probationary review? Proposal Details: A probationary review of the City Administrator was completed on April 3, 2013. The Council discussed the wage increase at the April work session. Resolution 04-16-13-02 included in your packet provides for the 5% increase discussed effective on the next payroll. Fiscal Impact: The increase in wages,taxes and benefits to the administration department would be$2,830 for 2013. Options: 1) Approve Resolution 04-16-13-02 2) Amend and then Approve Resolution 04-16-13-02 3) Take no action to cllange administrator's salary Recommendation: Option 1, per Council discussion at work session. , � CITY OF SCANDIA RESOLUTION NO.: 04-16-13-02 RESOLUTION AMENDING ADMINISTRATOR PAY RATE FOR 2013 WHEREAS, THE City Council approved Resolution No 12-18-12-02 at their December l8, 2012 regular meeting and said resolution established employee pay rates for 2013; and WHEREAS, the City Administrator has received a satisfactory performance review from the City Council on April 3, 2013; WHEREAS, per the Employment Agreement dated August 28, 2012, upon the completion of the Probationary Period and thereafter during the Term, Employee's salary may be adjusted from time to time by Employer in its sole discretion. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCANDIA, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA, that it approves an annual salary of $73,500 for the City Administrator prorated from and effective with the next payroll.
