SPECIAL EVENT PERMIT, MEISTER'S BAR AND GRILL (MAY 18,2013) Applicant Scot Taylor has applied for a Special Event Permit to conduct a Classic Car Show on May 18, 2013 at Meister's Bar and Grill, located at 14808 Oakhill Road. The event will run from 2 p.m. to midnight, with live music performing on an outdoor stage beginning at 4 p.m. Nina, representing the applicant, was present at the meeting to describe the event. She explained that this is the second year for the event. There will not be a motorcycle run as there was last year. Without the motorcycles, there will be more room to park the cars in the back field, and off of the street. Mayor Simonson expressed a concern about securing the canopy to the outdoor stage in the event of strong winds, which could have the potential to collapse the structure. An incident occurred last year during Taco Daze in which spectators had to hold the canopy down during a wind storm. Council member Lee stated that he had spoken with Mr. Taylor that afternoon, and he is setting the leg posts into cement in an effort to improve the safety of the stage. Mayor Simonson asked that there be no on-street parking of cars that are participating in the show. Simonson, seconded by Lee, moved to approve the Special Event Permit for Meister's Bar and Grill to host a Classic Car Show on May 18,2013,with the conditions as recommended by staff along with the added condition that the canopy structure be firmly bolted to the stage deck. The motion carried 4-0. ADJOURNMENT Ness, seconded by Lee, moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried 4-0. The meeting adjourned at 6:38 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Brenda Eklund Deputy Clerk
