Seasonal Staffing
Public Works has received a second applicant for the Summer Seasonal Position. After a request to Council for
approval, the new employee will begin on June 12, 2023. This position will be responsible for mowing and
ballfield maintenance and other tasks as assigned.
Our current Summer Seasonal employee has been hard at work cleaning up the landscape beds and spreading
new mulch.
Mowing so far this year has been distributed among the full-time staff.
Playground Project
The bulk of the playground equipment was delivered on Thursday, June 1, 2023. Public Works has requested
the contractor to supply a project timeline for structure, rubber surface, and woodchip installation. An update
to the Committee will be sent as soon as the schedule is provided.
Woodchips
Public Works has received roughly 200 yds of wood chips from Davey Tree Service for the use on park trails.
Primarily, for the potential volunteer project on the Bone Lake trail.
Liten Park
Along with the road construction project, Public Works utilized the contractor and material on site to install an
access to Liten Park. This access is for walk in visitors to the park and allow the mowing equipment access to
mow the trail within the park. With the access nearly complete Public Works will be reaching out the Friends
of Scandia Parks and Trails to layout the new trail.
Lilleskogen Donation Benches
The two benches which were donated over the winter will be installed in Lilleskogen Park this month. Public
Works is also working with another potential donor. There will only be two remaining pads for donation
benches if the current potential donor provides funds to purchase a bench.
