Bacicground: At the May 2l, 2013 Council meeting,the Council approved the establishment and creation ofthe Economic Development Authority(EDA). Pursuant to the resolution: The EDA shall be governed by a board of commissioners consisting o,f five members, two of whom shall be members of the Counci� The initial appointments of the non-Council commissioners shall be for the following terms: one(1)for three(3)years, one(1)for four(4) years and one(1)for five years. Thereafter, the terms of the non- Council commissioners shall be six (6)years and until their successors are appointed and qualified. The terms of the Council members servirrg as EDA commissioners shall coincide with their respective terms of o�ce on the Council. Each commissioner of the EDA who is a member of the Council shall cease to be a commissioner effective at such time as he or she is no longer a member of the Council, and a successor commissioner shall be appointed pursuant to the Act to serve the remainder of the applicable term ('zf any)so vacated. Following the May meeting, staff posted and advertised for applicants to serve on the EDA. Applications were due by June 7th. Three applications were received by the deadline and the following people were interviewed by the Council at a Special Meeting prior to the regular June Council meeting: Tom Triplett, Greg [saacson,and Bruce Swenson. Issue: Who should be appointed the Economic Development Authority and for which terms? Proposal Details: The Council may appoint any ar all of the three applicants to the EDA. The Council should also identify which member will serve which term(3, 4, or 5 year) initially. In addition,the Council may wish to appoint the two Council members of the EDA Board. Their terms will run with their terms on the Council. Fiscal Impact: NA-At this time no compensation amount has been provided for the members of the EDA.
