MidCo Project Updates
I met with Melissa from Midco last week. They will submit two Line Extension Program grant
applications for areas within Scandia. The first is an extension of the Big Marine Project and
will pick up an additional 15 homes (and four vacant lots) along Lakamaga Trail N, 195th St. N,
and Mayberry Trail N. That project will cost $106,316. The second is for the area of
Meadowbrook Ave N., north of Hwy 97, and will pick up an additional five homes. This project
will cost $54,000. Neither project requires funds from the City. If approved, the work must be
completed within one year of the grant award. If the projects are not awarded, Midco will
resubmit in the next grant opening later this year.
MidCo plans to send the city an invoice for $219,000 in August. This is the City’s portion of the
2022 grant project that has been completed.
May Township received a Boarder 2 Boarder grant from DEED earlier this month. Details of the
award are included in your packet. It appears the project totals $3,511,700, with the funding
broken down as follows: DEED Grant $1,580,300, Washington County $311,000, Midco/May
Township $1,620,400.
CIP Committee Funding Request
The 401 CIP funding spreadsheet that was submitted to Council is attached. Currently, there is
$250,000 allocated for Broadband Development Grants in 2024 and 2025. Council will discuss
the 2024 budget at their August 2, 2023 Work Session.

Committee member Ray suggested changes to this document at our last meeting.
Councilmember Kronmiller would like to discuss these changes.
Next Areas for Expansion
This has been a Committee Chair let discussion. Staff has nothing to add at this time.
IAC Charter Discussion
At the June IAC meeting, the Committee agreed to send any proposed changes to the Charter to
Staff, who would compile the proposed changes for discussion at the July meeting. Staff has yet
to receive any proposed changes. Please bring any changes to the meeting for the Committee to
discuss.
Midco Day
Midco Day is scheduled for August 23, 2023. Any updates related to the events of the day are
appreciated.
