The Scandia Farmers Market will open with plant sales on May 8" and May 15", 3:30 - 6:30 p.m., and the regular season running from June 12" to September 181h, 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. > The new playground at the community center is a big hit. Thanks to the Scandia Parks and Recreation Committee and our Public Works Department for making it happen. Gammelgarden Museum will host a retirement celebration for Lynne and Jim Moratzka on April 28'" at 4:00 p.m. Gammelgarden opens for the season on May 41h from 10:00 - 4:00. Be sure to check out their website calendar for craft classes offered as well as Swedish language classes and more. Once again members of Scandia's Sister City initiative will be guests of our sister city Mellerud, Sweden in June. Travelers will stay with host families while in Mellerud. Scandia's committee plans to invite a group from Mellerud to Scandia around the time of Taco Daze, with Scandia families hosting the visitors. If you might be interested in hosting, please contact Patti Ray. Scandia Heritage Alliance will host a number of events this summer and fall. On Tuesday April 23rtl from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. there will be a talk held at the Scandia Creamery on reconstructing Scandia's historic Water Tower Barn, on Wednesday June 19'h there will be a kayaking and hiking adventure to historic Knapp's Cave on the St. Croix River, and on Saturday, October 121h there will be a historic homes tour from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. More information can be found on the Scandia Heritage Alliance website.
