DISCUSSION:
Introduction of new employee Laurie Monson. Discussion followed regarding regular duties of
the job position and new ideas presented by Laurie, for the upcoming Summer Park and Rec
programs. Ideas regarding more advertising, potential additional joint ventures with Camp
Lakamaga, etc. Laurie intends to attend all Park Board meetings. We asked that she conduct
further research on marketing costs and additional advertising in Forest Lake area. There was a
great deal of time spent on the programs to be offered for the 2010 Summer.
Report Updates:
Winterfest Summary
1. : It was felt that there was good and bad. Attendance was just
not what we would like to see, but there were 13 teams in the ice sculpture contest. It was
determined that we would try again to get the word out and make this more of an annual
community event that people look forward to. Some ideas for next year include possibly Bingo
in the Community Center, chili cook-off, etc. We need to have more joint efforts with local
businesses. Hats off to Matt Rasmussen for gathering many nice donations to be given as
prizes.
Open Gym Summary
2. : Mike Goeken gave a final update regarding the 2010 Open
Gym attendance, which again appears to be a success. There was some discussion regarding the
new longer 6-week program, and that we should keep it that way, and possibly starting a bit
earlier.
Summer Programs:
3.The entire 2010 line-up was gone over with Laurie Monson, and
thoughts and comments were given.
Wind in the Pines Park:
4.Surveymatters tabled.
Gateway Trail Resolution (Friends of Park):
5. This matter was tabled since most
committee members were absent.
Miscellaneous:
6. Committee members were asked to think of potential ideas for Hay
Lake Park, Spring Cleaning matters (May 1), and potential work at the lighted ball field since
local ball teams have expressed interest in conducting more tournaments, etc. at the field this
summer.
Meeting adjourned.
