Re: Sign Ordinance
Background:
The EDA has heard from businesses in meetings and through surveys that the sign ordinance has
problems. We haven’t gotten many specific examples of how it is cumbersome to businesses,
just general comments. Since the sign ordinance is part of the Development Code, any changes
would have to go through the Planning Commission who holds a public hearing prior to making
Commission.
Discussion on changes began at the May EDA meeting. Scandia business owners were emailed
and asked for their input.
Issue:
Should the EDA recommend changes in the Sign Ordinance?
Proposal Details:
I’ve provided a draft update to the sign ordinance to incorporate the changes to the community
event signs as discussed at the last meeting. Are there other changes that should be
recommended to the Planning Commission and City Council?
What specific changes, if any, should be made to the Architectural Guidelines?
