The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Ordinance Number 164 at its meeting on
September 1. The Ordinance includes proposed changes to the uses and standards for the
Industrial Park District.
The City’s Economic Development Authority proposed the changes. The Planning Commission
discussed a draft ordinance at its meeting in August. Staff made several changes based on that
discussion:
Removed “wholesale bakeries” from the list of permitted uses, since these are included
as part of the food and beverage processing category.
Removed “research” from the list of uses, as it is covered under the “research facilities”
use.
Took out most of the proposed environmental standards included in the draft, and
referenced the similar standards in Chapter 2, Section 3 of the Development Code.
Saved the standard related to screening of mechanical equipment, since this issue is not
addressed elsewhere in the Code.
The revised draft is attached. The Commission will hear comments on the draft at the meeting
on September 1, and may make a recommendation to the Council after the hearing.
