Via Zoom and Boxcast Stream Attendance: President Steve Kronmiller, Vice President Mark Porubcansky, Commissioner Kirsten Libby, Commissioner Patti Ray, and Commissioner Brad Borg. Also in Attendance: Executive Director Ken Cammilleri Absent: None. Call to Order – Kronmiller called the meeting to order at 6:33PM. Approval of Agenda - Motion by Ray, Seconded by Porubcansky, to approve agenda. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote. Approval of Minutes from the Board’s November 30, 2020 Meeting – Motion by Porubcansky, seconded by Borg, to approve the minutes. Motion carried by roll call with all ayes except Kronmiller abstained due to his absence from the meeting. Discussion on future Business Breakfast Meetings. The Commission discussed the agenda for this Thursday’s virtual breakfast. The Commission determined the following: - Kronmiller is to make the opening introduction. - Peter Nora will be presenting for 10 minutes about PN Products. - Then the group will go into roundtable discussion. - Then the meeting will end with an update from Chris Eng, Washington County CDA Economic Development Director. Going forward Breakfasts will be every third Thursday at 8:00 am and will be held virtually during pandemic restrictions. The Commission requested that staff include an announcement that future breakfasts will be held on this schedule. Consideration of developing a bike share program (City of LeRoy example) – Ray reported that she found this concept in Minnesota Cities Magazine. LeRoy had utilized a Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) Grant to help fund the purchase. Ray was to follow up with Cycling Scandia to gauge interest and invite them to the next meeting. A look at the City of Harmony’s December business promotion progra m – Ray noted that she found a profile in the League of Minnesota Cities Magazine about the Harmony, Minnesota’s efforts to do a coordinated business promotion effort for the holidays. Kronmiller reported that we tried to do this a few years ago. It was further noted that the Page 2 of 2 Country Messenger also has a similar promotion that has been included in a recent issue. Porubcansky suggested that this would be great to revisit after the pandemic conditions end. It was also decided to talk about it at a breakfast meeting. Director’s updates/financial report – Cammilleri presented the Director’s report. There were no major highlights. Discussion on potential closure of the Scandia Clinic – Cammilleri reported to the Commission that the Osceola Medical Center notified the City that they were considering a permanent closure of the Scandia Clinic. Cammilleri noted that the City is actively communicating with OMC to attempt to prevent this from happening. Further reports are forthcoming. Next Meeting Date – The Commission agreed that its next meeting will be held Monday, January 11th at 6:30pm. It was also decided that the Next EDA Virtual Breakfast Thursday, December 17th at 8am Adjournment – Motion by Ray, seconded by Libby to adjourn the meeting at 7:26PM.
