Meeting Minutes
Monday, July 12, 2021 at 6:30PM

Members in attendance: President Heather Benson; Vice President Mark Porubcansky;
Commissioner Brad Borg; Commission Greg Amundson, and Commissioner Sue Dickens.
Others in attendance:Executive Director Ken Cammilleri
Absent – None.
Call to Order - The meeting was called to order by Benson at 6:30pm.
Approval of Agenda – Motion by Porubcansky, seconded by Amundson to approve the
meeting agenda. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes from the Board’s June 14, 2021 – Motion by Amundson, seconded by
Benson to approve the June 14, 2021 minutes. Motion carried.
Director’s updates/ financial report - Cammilleri provided last month’s financial report
noting that the dues for the Minnesota Rural Broadband Coalition dues have been paid for
this year.
Review of EDA Work Plan - The Commission continued its work updating its work plan.
The focus of discussion was on clarifying the EDA’s accomplishments in comparison to the
plan and other opportunities that the EDA could advance its outlined goals including
advocating for improvements to regulations that affect businesses. The commission also
discussed future approaches to housing and internet expansion.
September Breakfast – The EDA has determined that it will return to quarterly in person hot
breakfast business events. Arrangements should be made for the event to have Bruce
Swenson cater the event. Suggested guest speakers include the soon-to-reopen Scandia Cafe
John Engstrom with Willow Tree Farms, and a presenter from DEED. Prairie Restorations
was recommended for consideration for the EDA Breakfast in December. The next EDA
Business Breakfast is tentatively set for September 15, 2021.

Items for future agendas - The Commission agreed to continue discussion on the
September Business Breakfast Breakfast, the 2022 EDA budget, business updates, and
cominue update to the EDA Work Plan.
The next EDA Board of Commissioners meeting will be held Monday, August 9, 2021 at
6:30pm.
Adjournment – Motion by Amundson, seconded by Poracansky to adjourn the meeting at
8:18pm. Motion carried.
