Scandia Business Updates
1) Prairie Restoration
a. I spoke with Ron Bowen at (612) 708-9425 last week as they have decided not to open
up the retail space for a few years. He is going to try and rent the retail space. A great
opportunity for the right business. Approximately size is 3,500 sf, men and women’s
restrooms, 2 offices, large outdoor seating area and large and expansive retail open area
with numerous shelves.
2) CS Garage
a. Cory Reller (651) 433-0117 has opened up his new automotive ship at 21090 Ozark
Court North adjacent to our facility. Cory came with an excellent reputation and is a
very detailed and clean auto shop. His abilities include anything automotive including
ATV’s, trailers, tires and much more.
3) Osceola Medical Center
a. We met with Matt Forge (CEO of OMC) a few weeks ago to discuss their future plans to
try and return to Scandia with a medical campus concept. This would require a large
land parcel which we showed him 3 possibilities along Highway 97. These are the
parcels adjacent to the fire hall, Farver property adjacent to Scandia Plaza and also the
hwy 97/hwy 95 corner owned by Tom Boesel. Whether they proceed with any of these
options is not known but would be a great asset for Scandia.
4) Federated Propane
a. We also met with Mike Mahon, CEO of Federated regarding their desire to expand the
kitchen and be able to offer more food items. In addition, he spoke of trying to develop
apartments to provide affordable living locations for younger people and families. Their
current land area would not support and type of development so they would need to
purchase adjacent property to do so.
In general, it sounds as though other businesses in Scandia, primarily the industrial park, and restaurant
are doing fairly well considering that raw material price increases is having a strong effect on the bottom
line combined with finding enough workers to fill open positions.
